About The Fund

  • An endowment fund is a permanent investment fund: the principal is never spent. Only a small, disciplined percentage of its value is distributed each year, so the Fund can support EPASD students this year, next year, and every year after.

  • After 25 years, the East Pennsboro Education Foundation has never had a permanent institutional endowment - only five figures in non-permanent scholarship funds for specific purposes. This Fund closes that gap and gives East Pennsboro a durable financial asset for the first time.

  • Past giving to the district has been episodic - a bake sale, a 5k, a single campaign. This Fund is structurally different: it's permanent, professionally invested, and designed to grow year over year rather than reset to zero.

    • Approved by the Foundation Board and reviewed by district counsel

    • Governed under Pennsylvania's Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act (UPMIFA)

    • Formal, written Investment Policy Statement setting allocation targets, risk limits, and benchmark

    • Assets held at Fidelity, a SIPC-member institutional custodian

    • Quarterly performance reports delivered to the Foundation Board

    • Distributions require co-authorization by the Foundation Treasurer or Secretary

  • The Fund is currently managed at zero fee - the Founder and CIO serves on a fully volunteer basis. This is dramatically below the roughly 3% annual fee typical of outside endowment administrators.

  • The Fund's first scholarship distribution is triggered once total assets reach $50,000. Donors may also establish a named, permanent scholarship fund with gifts of $50,000 or more. See the Scholarships page for details.

About the Founder

Rajit Krishnamurthy is an EPASD alumnus serving as the Fund's Founder and Chief Investment Officer, currently on a fully volunteer basis: no compensation, fee, or carried interest of any kind. He proposed, built, and now administers the Fund's investment and operating infrastructure at his own initiative and expense on behalf of the East Pennsboro Education Foundation.

His background spans institutional and quantitative finance, private equity underwriting, structured credit, and large-scale financial data operations, alongside nonprofit leadership experience scaling a national 501(c)(3).

As Founder & CIO, he holds exclusive fiduciary authority over the Fund's investments under the East Pennsboro Education Foundation's board resolution and Investment Policy Statement, and reports quarterly to the Foundation Board.
